Am starting A+ CERT next week am wondering if doing the right thing the more i read in here the more i found out the whole IT industry is no walk in the park but as they say nothing ventured nothing gained!

Not many things are straight forward, and IT is one of them. I am a "newbie" to the Industry and just less than two years ago thought I would never be able to change career. I have done it, many others (lots on CF) have done it and you can too.
