    Hello People,

I'm new to the forum but can already see its going to be a very useful tool to complement my studies.

I am just about to start on my journey to CCNA , taking in Comptia a+ & N+ along the way.

I am studying with skillstrain, I've read a lot of negative comments about them here but also some good, so I am taking it as it comes with an open mind, although I am very nervous at the thought of studying again.

Hope I can do it, £2,700 invested says I had better, that and the wife

see you around , perhaps on the a+ fourm as thats mission #1..

    Hi Welcome :)

    Good luck with the studies.

Be aware that you should have real world experience with CISCO kit before doing the CCNA as you may find it harder to get a job with it if you have no experience.

Skillstrain wont have told you that though.

Of course skillstrain did not tell me that, they told me the opposite.

But the way I see it is you can't get a job without the qualification in the first place so you have to start somewhere.. I originally was going to go for mcse qualifications but changed my mind to cisco it seemed the more in demand qualification.

Hopefully once i have attained the ccna somebody will take me on if I have not managed to get into a cisco working enviroment before completion of the ccna.

    I can't change now , I'm stuck with it..

It is possible to get into IT without any of that, people have done it.

What I would suggest is get an entry level position whilst you are doing the A+ and try and build up as much experience as possible, so that hopefully when you come to the CCNA part it may do you some good.

But if you dont get any experience with any CISCO stuff which is highly likley then maybe hide it on you CV untill you do then you will be able to move on.

I got my job without any experience or qualifications, well unless you count an IT A-Level (which isnt worth the paper its written on!). Its not easy, but not impossible either :)
