    Hi everyone,
Just joined. The reason I joined is I noticed some of you guys have had dealings with a company called 'Futures Development' 2 - 3 years ago who promised the earth i.e. complete MCTS and MCITP and you will be guaranteed a £25k Database Admin. job on completion.
Has anyone ever taken this company up on this offer? I am seriously looking at one of their offers as I write this - please help!

    Cheers,
    Rob

No TP can guarantee you a job. and certainly not one at a specific salary, unless of course you are working for them. Even then I would be skeptical of the offer. For reference that particular salary is generally picked up by people who have been in the industry for a few years - although some exceptions exist, you will not generally get your foot in the door for that value.

"Futures Devlopment", are they the ones that spam the job boards with******<job_title>-NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED*******" and then go into a spiel about their training, with a little bit at the end about maybe having some jobs for people who are already have the certifications they're trying to sell.
    Avoid!

Hi - I joined this forum for the opposite reason: I've had dealings with Futures Development and wanted to warn anyone else they might scam.

I've already posted elsewhere in reply to another post, but thought I'd add it here too. In addition to the fact that it seems to be too good to be true, here are some other reasons why you should not be as stupid as I was:

    1. Their coursework is incredibly out of date (Visual Interdev is one of the modules and all the Adobe products are pre CS).

    2. Their customer service is pretty much non existent. I can't get hold of them on the phone or by email. It was bad before, where it would take me weeks to get a response, but now I can't seem to get a response full stop.

    3. They have made it impossible for me to finish the course, so the job guarantee is redundant. You have to finish one module before you can move on to the next and I have often had to wait weeks before they've released the next section for me, and even then only after pestering them repeatedly. In addition to this, a month or so ago I suddenly lost access to any of my course, present or past, and can't get hold of anyone to resolve the problem. So I can't do anything at all now.

    4. Even if I did manage to complete the course, I can't see how I could get hold of them to find me a job!

I wish I had saved my money and taught myself with Lynda.com or similar. Luckily I have found another job anyway, but this emphasises even more that I didn't need to waste my money or time with Futures Development.

Hope this helps someone else to avoid making the same mistake I did. I feel really stupid for falling for it.

    Hi Everybody

I've just picked up on this thread, I've just looked at the Futures Development website today, the phone number is dead and the site says they have ceased trading.

What about the existing students ?

I'd imagine it's a case of try and get your money back from the administrators, and good luck with that.

Weren't Futures also the outfit that were promising glamorous jobs globe-trotting all across Europe and beyond? Offices in Washington, Geneva and all that?

Yes I had dealings - they are not IT specialists and I actually took them to the small claims court - I went for mediation as the local Citizens Advice were useless and trading standards did not support me. Their approach was to refuse to accept the authority of the court so even if I had won they would not pay. I had posted in December 2008 about their little tricks as it was identical to Skillstrain, who if it hadn't been for an episode of Watchdog would of cost me a lot more.

The thing is that I could of got the money back from my credit card but the Bank did not give me the right advice. Still even when I had everything sorted they reneged on the deal and refused to reply to me it is small wonder they went bust. Still if anyone could find out how many people they scammed we could get the directors I am thinking of tar & feathers if not that getting them disbarred from being directors of any company.
