Hello, stumbled across this forum the other day and just thought I'd say Hi to you all.

I start my new job soon in IT Support, so if anyone has any ideas what certifications I should start working towards and in what order, I would appreciate all your feedback. I plan to Self-Study while I work so will probably use your experience a lot while I learn :D

Cheers, and nice to meet you all.

    Povester.

Hi povester, I'm new to the forums as well but good luck in your new job.

A+, Network+ and MCDST seem to be the recommended certifications and usually in that order. (I suppose it also depends on what your day to day tasks are in your job whether other certs may be more applicable).

I'm sure some of the guys here who have got the certs and have worked in similar roles to yours will add their advice to help you. From what I have seen of the site so far there are a lot of guys with a lot of knowledge and everyone wants to help each other.

Hello and Welcome to CF :biggrin

Depends on what part of IT support role you are doing?
Is it Hardware/software, network, web design or programming?

    If it's Hardware/software Comptia A+ offers a solid foundation.

Click here to goto Comptia A+ website

There's loads of useful info under the A+ section on the forum.

Good luck with the job. 8)
