    Hi all,

This is my first time as a forum member!

I am a printer by trade looking to get into the IT industry.
I have many skills using computers which i have taught myself over the last few years. I have built a few computers for friends and myself and i am a good troubleshooter on general windows problems. I am also very creative and would like to get into web design as a career or possibly animation at some point in the future. I worked within the industry repairing and upgrading laptops for 5 months which i enjoyed but it was only a temporary contract. Also the money was very poor. After personal curcumstances, i had to get back into printing as the money was good. However, after being back for over a year now i am getting the itch to get out of it once and for all!
I need to find a reputable home study course or the like and get myself qualified for web design or maybe pc maintenance to get my foot in the door.
Anyway, thats my story and i look forward to having many interesting disscussions with some of you!

    Kind regards.

    Hulk.

    Hulk,

Welcome. Why don't you buy a book on HTML or web design and see if you can teach yourself? From what you have said about yourself you would probably pick it up quickly.
Even if you would rather be instructor lead after, it would be a head start.

    Best of luck

    Hi Boyce!

Thanks for your reply. I have thought about doing what you suggested, but if ive done it and im applying for a job, wont it look a bit lame with no experiece and self taught?
Unless you are suggesting that i teach myself and then sit an asssessment for a qualification?
Have you got any books you could recomend?
Is it possible to get a book in guidelines with a sit down exam and the end?
Im very fired up about doing a course at the moment, i cant stop thinking about it and getting out of my current job!

    Cheers fella!
