    Hello

My name is Chris aka Baldy no need to say why, i found this forum by accident searching Google for reasonably priced A+ courses. REASONABLY PRICED HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry just picking myself up off the floor....

Anyway i read Arroryn's excellent thread on self tuition and thought hey why waste £1600 on a course with Seetec when i can self teach and still have money left to go back Vegas.....well maybe

I currently work as an Engineer (Mechanical) but wanting a change in direction (possibly help desk/Repair Work), i enjoyed IT at school and can still make my way around a PC ok. So from reading the A+ course content i thought this was a good foot in the door....... Do you agree????? Being a novice would you recommend self teaching or is TP the way????

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Hi Welcome

Self study is for anyone and as a novice you can take as long as you want and not what some course stipulates.

Get yourself PC Technician Street Smarts by James Pyles and compTIA A+ all in one exam guide 6th edition by Mike Meyers. If you can get your self an old pc to practice what you'll learn with the two books.

I got both books and an old PC for £80.

    Good Luck :)

Yep or pearson vue the two A+ exams cost 110 + vat or you can buy two vouchers from gracetechsolutions.com and pay £107 each no VAT applicable, and when you book your exams you just enter the voucher codes.
