    Welcome to CF!

Asking how long it will take you to gain MCT is like asking how long is a piece of string, there is no proper answer given the info we have. The truth is that you will know once you start on the MCSE. I found the MCSE to be much tougher than I was led to believe, some of the exams are killers and can take time to pass. This clearly depends on the experience and learning capability of the student.

I am also not sure what pre-requisites are needed to become MCT  but your existing knowledge will certainly help.

    Good luck with your ambitions!

    Welcome to CF! :biggrin

To become an MCT it depends on what you want to be teaching. From what I understand you can become an MCT with only a cert such as MCDST if the only courses you will be teaching are desktop support ones.

Take a look at the requirements here.

Yeh Bluerinse i guess your right, but i really just wanted to know whether it would take a lifetime and a day, or is six months a relistic target to aim for, cos i've decided not to work so as to concencentrate all my time on getting the cert.

simongrahamuk thanks i've looked at the link and you were right, but i think i would also like to get a couple more certs under my belt and not just the MCDST.

I guess it depends on whether you meet Microsoft's requirements. Step 1 is to pass a single MCP exam... easy enough.

Step 2 is a little tricky, if you don't already teach somewhere. From Microsoft:

Certifications: CISSP, MCSE+I, MCSE: Security, MCSE: Messaging, MCDST, MCDBA, MCTS, OCP, CCNP, CCDP, CCNA Security, CCNA Voice, CNE, SCSA, Security+, Linux+, Server+, Network+, A+

Well, if you've been in IT teaching, that part shouldn't be too awfully hard. :)

The Certification route is a long Journey it's not an overnight adventure, just remember that when you start applying for these courses.
