Hi All! Just stumbled across this place whilst trying to make a decision about doing a CIW course (pos. NITLC) as I’m interested in a career in web design - glad I found it as its already proving v. useful? Also thought I’d boost the female numbers as there doesn’t seem to be many of us about.

    Nice to meet you all!

I have a Business IT degree and did a placement with BT in Network design, but this was a while ago now. I’ve been working for the NHS in R&D since graduation - but having recently moved to edinburgh I now have more time to commit to IT training. Which is why I’m considering CIW - just unsure how to go about it (self study or distance learning?) Any suggestions? Also I’m not clear on how recognised this qualification is? What are my chances of getting work with it? I did also look into A+ Network +, CCNA etc but much more interested in the web side of things. I'd appreciate any advice?

A nose around the Training & Development Forum, and also under the CIW Forum should answer at least a few of your initial questions, KT - anything you don't find there, just sing out :)
