    I've just signed up with Dynamics IT academy for a junior held desk position on completion of my mcdst
    my question is how long will it take me to complete the training online from the Microsoft web site,
    and would it be an advantage if i took the A+ in my own time

    No-one can really answer that, it depends on how fast/slow you can go thru the course and take in the info...

    As for the A+, go for it... One thing I would say though is to do it one at a time, eg finish the MCDST first then go for the A+ or vice versa.
