I think the key here is to post your questions and let people answer. However, be aware that no-one here will do the work for you, merely, they will be willing to assist you in understanding the concepts that you are particularly having problems with. To get the most from the people on here, you need to show willing to do work for yourself in this.

Unfortunately, this is why colleges and universities shouldn't offer the CCNA as part of their curriculum.

But what's the point of learning Cisco technologies to begin with? It gives college grads false expectations that they can get a job administering Cisco devices right out of college.

the netacad teaches networking theory, and teaches it well imo. Granted it gives you the cisco commands, but once you know the networking theory, transferring it to another vendor is no biggie.

no but your point was that universities shouldn't teach CCNA material, becuase you think they are then going to have to sit the certification.

No one in my university had the cert mentioned to them. And the knowledge has served me well. So i don't think universities should stop teaching it.

No, that's not what I said at all. I said, "But what's the point of learning Cisco technologies to begin with? It gives college grads false expectations that they can get a job administering Cisco devices right out of college." Whether they sit the exam or not is irrelevant to that point.

So a whole course of excellent theory should not be taught?

I'm afraid for a change i will have to disagree with you :) Rather than not teach it they should be made aware of the benefits of just getting an IT job, like me and my classmates did.

Oh well, I'm sure none of this is helping the OP.

Never know, he might pop back up and tell us what he's actually after...
