    Hi all,

I am currently doing a Compita A+ and also MCDST courses through Seek Learning online.

A little on my experience would be that I have built (and destroyed ) my own computers and those of others for over 6 years. Set wifi networks up and am now working for a broadband supplier on thier tech support (allbeit through a 3rd party call centre)

Any hints for searching for jobs, look on Monster everyday and also have searches setup on reed.co.uk. Anywhere else I should look as IT jobs (as withmost other types of jobs) in the north east are very thin on the ground.

    Hi and Welcome,

When I was looking for a job, I went to cwjobs, jobserve, reed, and every local newpaper I could find.

Also ringing up agencys, posting your cv on websites like Jobserve gets you phonecalls about work in your area, and not so much in your area. :) That and speculative letters might be good, because not every job advertises externally.

Jobs in the NHS don't normally get posted outside of www.jobs.nhs.uk (at least not in my area).

    Hope that was helpful.

    I wish.

It's just a basic call centre job that requires no certificates other than being able to talk to customers.

Job title should be Customer Services Helpdesk (with a little technical stuff thrown in for good measure :biggrin)

    Thanks for the welcome all.

If you're helping them with IT problems, that's still IT experience. Don't discount it... employers won't. It's most certainly better than nothing, which is what a LOT of people have.

I'm not discounting it even though it was a pay drop from my previous job.

Got to start somewhere I suppose.
