Hello fellow forumites, go easy on me!

I have worked in IT for 10 years now, I have been lucky to work on some amzing projects and get some truly amazing exposure to great technology. My main expertise is in Networks, Telecoms, Firewall/ VPNs, Data Centre Architecture (SAN/ NAS/ VMware). The past 3 years I have been using my experience working as a project lead to deliver enterprise network, telecoms and security projects into existing and greenfield sites. In March of this year I was given a new role as Solutions Architect to comliment my day-to-day work. I have written tenders for complete infrastructures worth in excess of £1 million.

So why am I here?

Well, as strange as it sounds I have no certifications other than a JNCIA (SSL Track), I have get where I am based on my experience and working for the same company who have allowed me to progress. I recognise I have been very lucky but being the ambitious person I am I want to move on, challenge myself and progress. Looking on job sites I can see the same thing over and over again, Certifications required etc etc. I have even been cheeky and applied for jobs with a covering letter saying that I have the experience necessary, far better than most people with certs, I have offered to take a sallary reduction in return for fast track courses to gain those certs.

I have decided to start funding certs myself, the first being CCNA, I have just ordered the key coursework and will take the exam prob within the next few months. I will also take the VCP (VMware) I hope, just been on the course but my company wont pay for the exam.

Anyway, I have rambled on. I know I may have questions, and I too will offer answers where I can.

This is going to be a journey.....
