Just decided today that I would like to do my +A :D
Although I have no idea where I'm going to take it (I live in waterlooville, hampshire) or how much $$$ it will cost.

    Cheers

    Hi and welcome to CF!

It needn't cost you that much if you are prepared to do the learning yourself.

Books will cost you about £60, a spare computer to mess around with the same, and the exams at about £108 each.

    Cheers guys!

Does anyone know where I can find a place then?
I've only got £600 right now, I'm currently unemployed and on the doll but I'm just going to take any job that pays money so I can do my +A. :)

I would rather be taught, but I'm guessing that will cost several grand? :\
Are there any requirments to take the +A?

Place at what? The route I sugested means learning at home.
And by the way - it is A+, not +A! :biggrin

There are no requirements to taking A+, except to pay for the exams! Have a look at CompTIA's site for info.

Also look in the A+ section here for book recomendations and other items.

    So I'll need

    Books
    spare computer

I seem to have found somewhere that does

    A+ Core HW 220-301
    A+ OS Tech 220-302

108+ vat each for the exam..

But I'm clueless to what I'm supposed to do to get the ball rolling. Is it as simple as self studying then booking a exam and taking it?
I was reading that they're changing the CompTIA A+ soon which doesn't help.

That's about it. I'll guess that you looked at the Pearson Vue exam venues. For some mysterious reason the other exam company, Prometric, doesn't charge VAT! Which will be a saving.

Spot on. If you get the Mike Meyers book as mentioned in the A+ section here it includes a CD with some practice tests which are very similar to the real thing.
Delepnds how long you think it will take to do A+. You have until March next year to do the current exams. After that you will have to take the new exams. And the books for the new exams aren't out yet.

    Hi and welcome aboard.

When you are ready to sit your exam surf over to GetCertified4less.
They have some real bargains; Comptia are quite expensive to sit.
Once you are ready, you might pick up a voucher (like i did) that has to be used within a week for £80.
Good luck, post for help whenever you need it.

    Si

    Edit;

When the time comes, make sure you select the International link- the default is US and Canada.
