Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!

I have been gone for quite sometime now, various reasons etc.

Thought I would just say hello and let you know what has been going on. Since my last post many, many moons ago I have passed my ITIL courses and also my FAST auditor exams which was nice.

Also I am on the verge of becoming a police officer with the view to move into fraud and identity theft after my first few years on the normal ‘bobby beat’.

In my personal life I now have a fiancée and a new niece.

Anyway thought I would just say hello again, and hopefully I will be around to join in the banter again.

    Stu

    Thank you very much!

It has been a long 8 months doing all the interviews, assessments, medicals and physicals but hopefully I am coming near the end and with any luck have a start date next March.

Be a big change from what I do now, but looking forward to it. :biggrin

Well done Stu. Good luck with the new career.

Are you out of IT for good, or is the plan to work for the Police in an IT role at some time?

    Best regards

To be honest I am not really sure Si

I have always been interested in being a police officer and as my current employment may end in March next year (company buy out) I just thought to myself why not? To be honest I wasn’t sure how far I would make it in the recruitment process but after the first few months I began to think I could really do it.

More than likely I will attempt to pursue a career with the police now, but if they have roles that can use my IT skills I am sure they will point it out to me during my development stages.

I will carry on with my interest in IT, I don’t think I can get away from that as it is an interest as well as a job.

But I will keep you all posted and let you know how I get on.

    Stu

    Good luck mate

I work for a police force (in IT, i hasten to add, not as a copper), and there are masses of opportunities for police officers who are technically literate to move into very interesting IT-based roles.

A lot of opportunities abound, (not least because the vast majority of coppers are complete luddites) so should you decide to move into the technology department of your force after you've put your graft in on the beat, I'm sure you'll be much better placed than most people starting out in IT without that advantage.

PS: If you're going into the GMP, their IT is pretty good - second only to ours :biggrin

PPS: always nice to meet another 'Stu' - who spells his name the right way :respct
