Very sad. He leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter. :(

Saw an extended preview of the new Batman movie a few weeks ago... Ledger's portrayal of The Joker is spot-on.

This is a total waste of life and very sad too, unfortunately a lot of people think ending their life is an easy way out. What a devasting lie from the devil.

I pray he's entire family cope in a time as this that often times is hard to say anything meaningful enough to console those grieving the lost of a loved one.

Well Heath was from Perth where I live, and basically the whole town is mourning his passing.

He was obviously well known and respected internationally and had done us proud in his career.

Admittedly some of us are questioning what actually happened and even judging him adversely, as we also lost a well known but older former football star just a few months ago in Perth.

However folks can armchair critique all they want, but ultimately his young daughter no longer has a father and we are all the worse for his passing.

    RIP Heath

Well its now emerged it may not be entirely suicidal...altho they are not ruling this out, they are saying that it may have been accidental...so we wait to see whats next from there...

500 years ago, John Donne said "never send to know for whom the bell tolls..." meaning that it doesn't matter who has died. Any human death diminishes us all. By the same token, whether his death was by suicide or by accidental means, it is still a tragedy for those he left behind including his family. My prayers for those in grief.

See, I don't buy totally in to that
I'm a firm believer that the way we glorify the death of some people who did it to themselves just encourages others to go do the same thing, I dont think that adds ANYTHING to us as a whole,

I never said it was a suicide either noel, I said it was dumb to OD, accidental or deliberate, and whilst I hope it was accidental as I have a lot of respect for the guys career and what he stood for, if it was deliberate he loses a lot of kudos on my eyes, and shouldnt really be getting the attention and pats on the back he's getting

That said, I agree TOTALLY that its a tragedy for his family and daughter, and I wish them all the best in this difficult time, I can't imagine this situation is easy for anyone, let alone those in such a media spotlight

Heres to finding out the truth!

There's a difference between glorifying someone's death and acknowledging that it has tragic results. I don't think this man's death is any more significant than any other person's death (hence my "for whom the bell tolls" statement), but I don't think we should automatically drag him through the mud because it may have been suicide or an accidental overdose. He left behind a 2 year old daughter who will be crushed, regardless of the facts or truth (the two aren't the same thing) of the situation. I didn't say I'd pray for the dead but for those left behind.

Suicidal or not, he leaves a young daughter fatherless, and that's the saddest part of this story. My thoughts will be for his immediate family.

Well its looking like it was a total accident, of course you can't trust the papers till they all start saying the same thing which takes a few days

He apparently was suffering from pneumonia and the sleeping pills may of reacted with his other medication to cause the OD

As I said above, I had a lot of respect for the guy, I enjoyed his acting and his attitude, and it's a truly sad thing that's happened, he had an awful lot going for him and didn't play the annoying fame game that ruins so many budding stars

Let's hope he is remembered for many years to come

Some one interview him a couple of weeks ago too and he was totally worn out from his batman movie too. Said he was only getting like 2 hours of sleep a night. While his body was wore down his mind would not shut down for him to rest. I don't think he did it on pourpose myself if this was even the cause. He carrer was going up not down and he was already in the production of another movie. I think his body was just to wore down. But we shall see.

    Rest in Peace Heath

A tragedy, and I hope we find out it was not suicide. It is scary that sometimes a relatively young person can suddenly die, without any prior warning or health problems of any kind. A professional football player here in Scotland died recently at the age of only 35, after collapsing on leaving the football field. It turned out to have been a heart attack.

It is strange that these tragedies happen when many people can live into their 80's and 90's even after having had a hard life. Maybe the pressure of modern careers and success is more than people imagine.

Because of their obsessions, and the fact that the actor was in the film Brokeback Mountain.
