Like the title asks (for anyone whose recently received a MS cert) have you noticed that the new MS certs aren't signed by Bill Gates, but by Steven Ballmer?

yeah i noticed it too mid-june, quite gutted really..
also i phoned up today as i was under the assumption i could call and get a cert printed and wallet card if i pay..
but i was told the only service they do is printing the actual cert- no more wallet cards. she said that in replacement, there is a card soon to be available which people can print off. i then asked her how people are supposed to distinguish a photoshopped version and a genuine one, as there isnt a hologram on the paper..
she was like 'uhhhhhhhh..... i dont .. really.. know'
i was like nice one. i suppose there's that online transcript thing but its just not the same!

anyway i'm framing the cert i have which is 'signed' by bill gates :P
something to show and tell the grandkids

Just checked my seven MS certs and they are all signed by Billy Boy. I recieved the last one on the 19th May 209, so maybe when I upgrade to Server 2008 I might get an autograph from the new chap.

Oh, the new Virtual Business Card thingies look sweet, got a Windows Aero feel to em.

Personally I find the ideas pretty lame, the gold star at school, the five star general at McDonalds etc.

However I do fall for it still like everyone else, I guess I'm a magpie too, theres something in collecting shiny things...

Yeah, now paper certs are dead it does seem a shame, can't say I'm gonna be that impressed by some silverlight web app, nor are any of my employers likely to be either, thats if they can be bothered to look at it at all.

    Looks quite interesting...

What they don't mention is that given this isn't an MS product I'm assuming that there would be some kind of charge or subscription for the service.

If MS take it on board and add it to MCP benefits alongside say the logo-builder then I'm sure I'd go for it.
If I have to pay £5 per month for something that may never get used then I probably won't.

Looks like some basic template blog site or summint. I would be alot happier if MS just said "actually we cant be bothered to make wallet cards anymore just use your transcripts instead". As long as they improved the look of the transcript page I would be happy. If they really wanted to do this for environmental reasons then a flash based website generating reasonably small amounts of traffic powered on all the time (whether its a virtual web server or not) does not a happy hippy make.
