I had to look back through that thread to see what my goal was :)

I didnt do any Red Hat stuff in the end as i changed jobs. I ended up passing the CCENT exam and maybe looking to do the CCNA exam before the exams change in Sept. It doesnt really interest me that much and only really started doing the certs as my company paid for the course. I dont really do much Cisco stuff.

Not the best and for the same reason... I have changed jobs and will be at least shelving the CCNA. Studying -- and by studying, I mean falling asleep while studying ITIL. Once that is done, I am going for the MCSA in SQL Server and continuing with the degree work with some Java development stuff. All more relevant to the current job.

So far so good for me, better than what I expected to be honest. So far this year I passed the following exams:

    1. MCITP: EMA 2010 (2 exams)
    2. CCA - XenApp 6.5
    3. CCAA - XenApp 6.6

I still need to do a few more this year.

    Well I said this:

Heh. I've stopped the degree. It was a pursuit for personal pleasure, and was getting in the way of too many things.

To be fair, not looked back.

I'll be MCSA in a couple of months, and most of the way to MCSE Server Infrastructure by the end of the year - if not completely there. I've published a novel this year and will have another one out before the end of the year too.

Life is well and on course for progress. And I think that's the first time I've ever genuinely been able to say that!

I haven't even considered the MCSE, don't think that I'll go for that at least for the next 12 months.

Considering buying it, the only downside is that there's no paperback version (I'm not a big ebook fan for personal book, eg not studying books).

MCSA Server 2012 is still in progress, Wedding plans and buying a house kind of got in the way of the studying so I'm nowhere near as far along as I planned to be.

BIG study plans for the second half of the year so I can get some exams under my belt.

Oh bugger - I did post in that thread, well here goes:

"Think of buying this to kick myself up the arse to do my MCSA 2008 and upgrade to the MCSE 2012: Server Infrastructure. 13 months for 6 exams... doable I'd say."

Ahem. I'm half way through studying for the first exam in the MCSA 2008, 70-640.

Having said that I did stop and study/pass 74-324 in April/May to complete the requirements for our MS Small Business Competency.

How do I think it'll progress...slowly. I'm hoping to have the MCSA finished by end of year now. I've also got the added complexity now of planning my return to the UK next March and the job hunting etc that will ensue.

I'd forgot I even posted in the original thread, but here we go!

"My plan is to actually finish the 70-291 late Jan/early Feb, which completes my MCSA 2003. I'll then be doing the 3 exams of MCSA 2008, and hopefully the CCENT or something a little different. I feel I just need a big year to "catch up" with where I wanted to be, this year has been very wasted in terms of certs, but very productive in my general career and salary. I want to spend 2013 balancing the two out as much as I can!"

I did manage to pass the 70-291 early in the year to complete the MCSA 2003, and I will be sitting the first exam of the MCSA 2008 (70-640) before the end of August.

    So far, so good.

From what I can tell the 70-642 is very similar to the 70-291 so I'm hoping that I can crack through that one pretty quickly, 6-8 weeks turnaround, before finishing the MCSA 2008 with the 70-646 before the end of the year. 8)

    Mackie,

Was the Sage 50 exam from a tech point of view or an accountants point of view?

In the last two weeks I've (finally) sat, and passed:

    MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010
MCITP: Server Administrator / MCSA: Server 2008
    MCSA: Server 2012

I'd like to make sure I get through at least the following by the end of the year:

    MCITP: Enterprise Administrator
    MCSE: Messaging
    MCSE: Server Infrastructure
    MCSE: Private Cloud
    CCENT

My goals all changed again since I posted as Microsoft decided not to retire my exams :)

So I've started the work to get the MCPD, I have one of the exams under my belt and about to take the second, lets see how it goes!

I was hammering away at the CCNP ROUTE/SWITCH... then my job changed in february so it's really no longer relevant as I will not be touching any LAN/WAN equipmenet. I read an interesting article about deciding whether to go WIDE (Learning lots of things in not much depth) or DEEP (focussing on one technology and learning as much detail as possible) in your learning. I think I've spent enough time going "wide" now it's time to go "deep".

For the past two years I have worked a lot with Checkpoint, and after hesitating and hesitating again, I've decided that for the next few months the goal is to study for and get my CCSA and if I can CCSE. Ideally I would like to go all the way, but with my I also like to run before I can walk :) One step at a time.

Also wanting to write some music as well :D
