Took the 70-680 today and failed by a measley 5 points. I am really annoyed although on the plus side I have never used windows 7 so it's not that suprising.

I would have been less pissed off if I had failed by a lot but 5 points :(

Thats a very good score if you've not used Windows 7 mate! I'm gutted for you but with a tiny bit more experience you should in theory nail this one so future one in the bag. Get studying and smash it in fella!

I feel for you there. I found it tough going and just scraped through (724 iirc).
I've never failed an exam I went in feeling prepared for (and caring about) before. The thought scares me actually. I don't really know how I'd react. I'd probably pick myself up and get right back on the horse but I know my confidence in my abilities would take a blow.

I'd get upgrading asap and take it while you still have 695 points worth of knowledge in you. Easy for me to say, I know.

Chin up mate, you never tried Win7 and got that high a score? Sounds to me like it's a pass next time around. Time to install Win7 and play around with it a bit, you'll ace it next time :)

Unlucky very close, maybe wait for a while till you use Windows 7 in a corporate environment before taking the exam again. After all the certifications should really be gained in areas you have professional work experience.

Unlucky matey :( It sucks when that happens, but just think if you're that good without much study, then you'll knock it out of the park next time!

One of our 1st line guys at work recently failed this one too, and she's been studying the book like a mad woman for the past couple of months.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the 70-680 and 70-682 require a far larger scope of knowledge (server side stuff - wds etc, system centre products, command-lines) than previous client exams.

Indeed, I took the MCDST upgrade to the Windows 7 equiv last week and I didn't think it was easy at all. Like Qs mentioned, you need quite a broad knowledge of a number of related areas, not just knowledge of the OS itself. Well that and learn about BranchCache, MS seem to have a real hard on for questions about that. :)

That's a fantastic score! I wish I was this good with Windows technologies :-)

A little bit of studying here and there, and you'll have another feather in the hat.
