    Hello Everybody,

I'm Steve and I'm an IT Consultant from Herts in the UK.

I am currently trying to revise for my A+ Exam which I'd like to get out of the way ASAP.

A few questions I have already are:-

How easy is the exam ?
Do you really need to read your books (cover to cover) to pass it ?

I've been in IT for almost 3 years now and I'd like to think that I know my stuff already but I'd be a bit reluctant to just be rash and take the exam without knowing what questions will pop up first.

Will they reallt need us to know our IRQ's considering most things are now plug and play with Win2k and all that ?

    Hope you guys can help.

    Many Thanks

Certifications: CompTIA A+ (Gee Wow !)
WIP: MCSE 2003 (no hope me thinks !)

    Hi Steve

Welcome to our part of the datasphere. Good to have another soul aboard. What type of consultancy are you in?

The answer to your questions is a tad difficult

    How easy is the exam?

Well some find it easy, some find it hard we all find it stressfull. I found mine fair!

Do you need to read the book cover to cover?

Yes and no. It is all in the book but it takes more than reading the book to pass the exam hands on experance really helps.

I found the exam a fact based exam you NEED to know that IRQ does this and you plug a thingi into a what do you call it.

Good Luck in all your studies.

Hi and welcome also, Steve :D

As for A+, what text are you using ?

If it's the Mike Meyers Gold Bible, then I'd say know what is covered in the book.

Yes, it may appear basic with all your experience, but this isn't exactly "real-world" IT knowledge, it's the knowledge of what CompTIA want you to understand for the A+ exam.

Hope this helps, and keep visiting our wee place :)
