Hi people

My name is Pete and I'm 34 years old. I've signed up here because I've just signed up for Advent Training. In fact, I was reading the relevant thread on here when the guy called, but more about that in the thread.

So, who am I? I'm mostly self taught in HTML & Dreamweaver, learning a bit of Photoshop and just looking to increase my skills. I've done a few websites, but they're nothing to write home about. I just desperately want to make some more and become a professional.

I'm into South Park, Family Guy & Pink Floyd.

Hi there PinkFloydFan, unfortunately my dad is a massive fan of Pink floyd so I can never truely love them (I can't love a band my dad likes!!) although I do have Piper at the gates of Dawn (quality mental music!) and Dub side of the moon which is a a dub version of dark side of the moon. I'd recommend that!

Good luck with your studies, start building a portfolio now and maybe be prepared to work for free in your spare time in the beginning to get one built. Thats what I'm starting to do now.

 

I must be old, because I don't understand why someone can't love a band their dad likes. I love some of the same stuff my dad listens to.

That said, he doesn't listen to Pink Floyd.

 

Hmm...my dad liked The BeeGees I actually quite liked some of their stuff. But seriously, give PF a go on your own terms (as you seem to have done) they are stunning. Not a fan of Dub Side, but there are very few PF covers I have time for. I still haven't forgiven Scissor Sisters (and never will - even if they have done some good stuff since) for what they did to CN. Disgusting!

 

I'm gonna have to listen to see how they butchered it.

Its the fear BosonMichael, I may, by finally giving in and liking Pink Floyd I will actually BECOME my dad. They are the only band left, The Rolling Stones and the Velvet Underground I've claimed as my own

 

Bad, huh?? I remember taking DSOTM to a party my parents had and my mum said she always liked it. Instead of going off them, I gained a new admiration for my mum

ETA Actually, look up Dar Williams version. It's different, but it's nice. I can live with that. Hayseed Dixie did a country version, which makes me laugh
