The BBC website reportds that Google is launching its very own Internet browser. See here for more info.

Just installed Chrome and so far I am very impressed with it!

It appears to be hogging less resources than FF or IE does. The installation was painless and importing bookmarks etc from FF was a doddle. It also appears to open and shut down a lot quicker than FF, IE and Opera. Pages look to be presented properly, although I have only tested it on a few sites so far.

I've to stick my nose in a few more areas of Chrome as yet but initially I like it a lot. I hope it will have that tweakability factor that makes FF so great. I'd like to see the same range of extras that you can bolt on to FF.

If I can get those bolted on to Chrome, I may just have a new favourite browser. An impressive start Google... for now!!

"whether or not people download and use it is another matter"

I don't think so, google is the most used search engine in the world by far, I don't think they will struggle to advertise and promote it.

I'll be keeping an eye on and probably trying this browser out very soon.

I heard about that today too, I think I'll wait though before trying to use it.

Yes but this thread was started first. Notice the time stamp. 1 in the morning, the other one 2 in the afternoon.

    You tell him Mitzs!

I had a good look to make sure no one else had put anything in, including in the News part (I can't add anything in there) before starting my incisive thread. 8)

By the way, I have installed Chrome on one machine. It is fast to install, quick to open and close, appears to have phishing filter, pop-up blocker and lets you delete cookies. It also lets you have multiple tabs like IE 7.

It's obviosuly early days for the browser but I magine that, given Google, they will build loads more into it. Watch out MS!

Do you know I have IE7 on the desktop but I have never used the multiple tabs. I like the seperate windows better for some reason.

I just think the tabs are so much tidier... and I can flip from one to another easily. Try it and you'll wonder how you ever managed without it... :biggrin

...random digression (and I say that because I know how BM's mind works)

We don't seem to have a picture for Mitzs in the IRL thread. Can someone find one? If we're short of the full set we don't get a prize.
