Communication and customer service skills are important skills often overlooked by those in IT especially those starting out. The other important skill often overlooked is the ability to make use of our friend Google.

Google is so important I'll add my vote there. Another site I'll add is www.majorgeeks.com there are some knowledgeable folks floating around the place but I use it more as a place to download a number of handy tools from.
