    Hi,

As the title suggests I'm preparing to begin my study for CCNA. At the moment I have the Sybex study guide, nuggets, various practise tests/papers etc.

For the hands on part I was thinking of buying 2 x 2501 routers from ebay.

Do they seem ok for the money? (£70 each plus delivery)

    They include:

    16mb Flash & DRam
    v11 boot rom
    12.3 IP Plus IOS
    Transceiver
console cable, power cable, dce/dte serial cable

    Your advice is appreciated

    Cheers

In addition to getting the routers I'd suggest that you purchase two switches so that you can practice setting up VLAN's. 8)

i just suggest you make sure your "various practise tests/papers etc" are legal and not some braindump materials... if you not sure what braindumps are read this and just ask us for help on anything...

    good luck!:thumbleft

Thanks for the replies - I'm well aware what braindumps are, when I say papers I mean things like cramsession etc, practise tests are transcender

Back to the original question - does the kit above seem value for money at £70?

Thanks - I'll go for it then, and maybe add a couple of switches once I get started.

If you can get a third 2501 it would very useful. With 3 routers you can set up frame relay. Also, routing practice is much, much better with 3 routers, e.g. route redistribution.

    Hi BrizoH,

An alternative is Linksys gear. Cisco wrapped cheaply
