    Hello Troops
This is my first fourm i've joined and i must say it looks the buisness. I have completed the Cerco fast track course (£4000)
on the 03-2-2006 and the traning was for the most part first class, good hand's on stuff. Still waiting for a job although i knocked back one when i got back to glasgow after 4 weeks.
Somthing about the job put me off it (call it gut reaction which i listen too) SO still no joy as i'm kicked into touch but there still looking HONEST:dry . Well i seen some guys here asking about Cerco so i had too join up to hear ther story. I think this is going to be a great fourm for all.. Anyway hello all and any Creco Q'ss get in touch:salut Spitfirebob.

Thanks for the email (to which i've replied).
Like you, I did the Cerco course, and smelled a rat on the first job they offered me, so I stuck at the PC building job I was lucky enough to get locally to me.
Cerco took this "turn down" of the job kind of badly, and stated that they wouldn't look for employment for me again, but it all sounded a bit "dodgy" at the time, and with a second job offer that has recently come my way, I know that i'm well capable of doing all of the running, the only problem I now have is whether to take on this new role "field engineer" with a car and 18,000 per annum vs a fixed base PC building job thay currently pays 14.5kpa.
The job i'm in now has no real scope for progression where as the new one is offering the MCSE and CCNA.

One thing's certain, once your foot is in the IT door, you shouldnt have to look back.

    W:biggrin ishing you well Baron210!

If you take on the job as copier engineer, you will never ever get to touch or probably even look at a Cisco router or switch. You will never ever get to touch a Windows server. You will however spend a lot of time, cleaning the optics of copiers and changing feed rollers, fuser hot rollers, pressure rollers and drum units. Your car will be full of car kit, your life will change direction away from computers.

As I said before, office equipment maintenance is a different ball game altogether.

An MCP would be beneficial to a copier tech but a CCNA is pointless and so is an MCSE. This is only my opinion but it is based on working in that industry from 1978 till 2001. As a service manager responsible for 40 field staff all over England including central London.
