    I had a quick go just at the comptia a+ just for giggles, its still asking questions about floppy drives and windows 98, lordy, most new techs on the scene will probably not know what they are or if they do they are shelved in their brains along with those giant black things that look a bit like cd's :p

    There are free books and software all over the web, this seems to be a MS centric thread and of course they like to charge ;)

    Well we had a useful programs thread a while back, lot free stuff was on that in terms of programs.

    Is this training resource specific thread ? or just free stuff ?

    Houdini Apprentice Free
    MS Express Editions
    Teamviewer
    VirtualBox
    Backtrack
    Mint
    VisualVM

    There is a vast amount of open source available in the Linux world, literally 1000's of programs.

    Lot of stuff is free to students under various programs.

    There are a limited number of ebooks available as either PDF or HTML. Obviously web sites and blogs all over the internet with free content.

    There is a lot of open courseware or free CBT type stuff on iTunes University, MIT opencourseware, Google Videos, InfoQ, Channel9, etc.

    The last MS book is a partial copy, many publishers Manning particularly make sample chapters or pre-release drafts freely available. Personally I prefer a real book to an ebook.

    I had a script created for my technicians to silent install some of our tools. I may release those at some point, but decided to give away the silent install script for Malwarebytes. The way it works is that it downloads the newest version from their servers and then installs it without prompting you for any input. It's a huge time saver if you ever do malware removal. You can download it for free on my website here. You can even set task scheduler to run the script if you need to do it on a lot of computers at one time.
