Last Friday the wife came home with flu. By Saturday night I was starting to feel lousy myself. Today the wife went to the drugstore, and that's the first time either of us have been out of house in a week.

I can only remember being this sick with the flu one time, and that was almost 20 years ago. I haven't had body aches, I've had body burns and they have settled in my back where I normally have pain anyway. Both of us have been too miserable to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time even with over-the-counter meds like Theraflu which normally kills just about all flu symptoms in me.

Just hope you guys don't get this variation of flu. It's as nasty as anything I've ever experienced. The hospitals here are full of people with it, and the doctor that my wife saw said 2 weeks was a normal recovery time once symptoms start to show.

The most sleep I've gotten was when I took some leftover hydrocodone from a previous prescription. Too bad we don't have more, I'd be sleeping now rather than absolutely miserable sitting here.

I felt good enough this morning so I thought I'd do some work. Big mistake. Within an hour or so my back was burning from top to bottom and I've been absolutely miserable ever since.

Hope you all don't get anything like this. You do not want it. If you don't take precautions normally such as washing your hands all the time, start. And, I'd avoid restaurants like the plague. When this many people have the flu the chance of someone who works in the restaurant having it and touching your utensils or sneezing or coughing on your food are really good. Also, many restaurants do not sterilize their dishes when the wash them, so if you happen to get a plate or utensil with the germs on it you'll get it.

I was feeling kind of lousy last Wednesday, but fortunately, it didn't last. I hear Michael (BM) is under the weather as well and I've got some friends locally who have been sick.

Hope you and yours get to feeling better soon, Freddy.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

I just hope none of you get this. I'm someone who is normally over the flu in 2 or 3 days, and this is now at 7 days and while my symptoms have eased a little it's not much relief.

It's definitely an abnormally nasty flu bug. I've been soaking the bed sheets with sweat now for 5 nights in a row....

Wow, Freddy, I hope you get better soon. I only had one really bad day and night... I've still got a runny nose and a little coughing, but I've been mostly recovered for days now. It sounds like you're pulling out of it - I hope so, anyway! You're right - those who don't have it should do whatever they can to avoid it!

Hope you both feel better soon.

I’m just getting over it now. When I saw the Dr. his exact words were “your weekend is a write-off”. I laughed since I didn’t even have the strength to stand and this guy is telling me not to party.

Great way to ruin a weekend but at least the kids are just about clear :)

I'm finally starting to feel better today. I'm still sweating about half the time, and really weak, but at least the severe body aches are gone.

I sure hope none of you get this. I've never been this sick, for this long, in my life.

Perhaps I got over it quicker because I've been exposed to more viruses and built up antibodies against them... you know, since I use Windows most of the time...

All humor aside, I'm glad you're feeling better. :)

Sorry to hear you've been through the mill Freddy and glad you are starting to feel better. The flu can be very nasty indeed.
