I couldn't believe it when I saw that there's been 5 months since I took my 70-271.

Anyway, passed 70-272 today with 838. Not a great score, but when your copy of office2003 decides it ain't gonna work no more* two days before your MSPress book arrives... I'll take it.

    The exam itself:
Only 40 questions. I figured I was in for a rough ride when I saw that on the basis that less questions=harder questions, but maybe that's not how it works.
Anyway, it was tougher than I expected, a few questions just left me scratching my head. Turns out I was only rubbish at one domain though.
I also got one of those nasty exams where the majority of the head-scratchers are in the first dozen or so questions. Fortunately I'm getting to be an old hand at this exam-taking lark so that didn't throw me off my stride like it did the first time it happened.

*I know where the disk is, it's buried at the back of a storage room the other side of the city. Ironically I'll get access to it sometime in the next two weeks because I'm in the process of moving everything out of there. What's the odds on it being in the very last box I take out?

    Cheers everyone.

Although I passed comfortably I didn't live up to my own standards.
It's not going to stop me celebrating tonight though :morebeer

I would say it was the next thing to do. Not only will it give you the MCP (for one exam) and MCDST (for both), which are good words to have on your CV if someone is searching CVs, but it gives you a good grounding for the MCSA client exam (70-270). The MCDST also counts as an elective for the MCSA but I think the A+/N+ combined do that as well.
I've seen a lot of people on here wondering if studying XP is the right thing to do, especially with Windows 7 being available. I got this email about a job today:
"This high profile client is looking for an Engineer to carry out some floorwalking following some deployments of an XP SP2 desktop rollout project."
Seems like XP is not only alive, but very much kicking as well.

I should maybe point out that taking 5 months to do the 70-272 was down to life getting in the way (voluntary work, moving house, lack of cash etc etc). It only took me 6 weeks to do the 70-271 and if I hadn't switched focus straight after that I expect the 70-272 would have taken a similar amount of time.
