    Hello rebelmoe7

Welcome to the forum, I'll try to answer yuor questions best i can..

q1. What exactly is an mcsa?? - Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, basically its made up of a number of different certificates, more info here http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsa/faq.mspx

q2. Is the NVQ useful at all - All knowledge gained is useful, you dont mention what your studying, i'm guessing PC repair/setup etc. All courses paid for by your employer are worth it, by what you've said it looks like they have a set route for their apprentices, go for it:thumbleft

q3.Can you advise me on anything else i can study at home or from books - Again difficult as you haven't specified what aspects you're studying, but for PC & Network introduction, have a look at the Comptia A+ and Network+ courses, both are excellent!

    It could happen! :thumbleft

Get a Bachelors degree, continue working on your writing skills, and emigrate to the US, and we can talk about officially handing over the scepter to you.

NVQ is just as equal as an SVQ I think and you want to aim at level 3 at least, and even level 4 if you can, if possible

The MIcrosoft Certified Systems Administrator is what some Training Provider tried to rip me off with, good course, and not a lot would pay you to do it, and if your'e going to have it paid for you, DO IT!!!
