I hoping to take the essential exam soon and have a few questions:

1: Can you go back to questions that you are not sure about or do you have to answer each question before you can move on?

2: How many questions are there in total?

3: Whats percentage do I need to get a pass?

4: How long is the exam?

    Thanks

When in doubt, always, always, ALWAYS go directly to the certification vendor for answers to these sort of questions:

    Answer to Question 1
    Answers to Questions 2-4

Otherwise... you might get the wrong answer to your questions.

Many years ago, some vendors gave what was known as adaptive exams, where you were given questions of increasing or decreasing difficulty depending on how well you were doing, and would cut you off after it figured you were going to pass or fail no matter what. Anything not adaptive was termed "linear", where you'll always get the same number of questions, and the questions are distributed randomly when the exam begins so that you can go backwards and forwards through the exam (you can't do that on an adaptive exam, since the next question is based on how well you answered the previous one).

I am studying at the mo for the a+ and have used practice exam software. I think when its says the exams are linear it means that it goes through a list of objectives such as dealing with people, identifying hardware ,troubleshooting etc etc
