    Hi,

Just starting my MCSA currently learning the Win XP stuff for exam 70-270

    Also doing 70-290 70-291.

Was planning on doing exchange 2003 but the company are going straight to exchange 2007 so will do the 2007 exam instead.

Will that be ok to do 70-236 exam and still get MCSA'ed ?

    Checking here: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsa/windows2003/default.mspx

There is the mention of the exam but it says:

Exam 70-236: TS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Configuring

what does the TS stand for ?

    Thanks in advance

Note that the first three exams you mentioned are entry level exams and for folks that are just starting out like yourself.

Any of the Exchange or SQL electives for example are a much harder proposition.

I would do the three exams first and see about Exchange [or XA] after that..we are not looking at Exchange 2007 for about 2 years yet.

So due to the complexity etc ... noting that Exchange 2007 is anticipated as 20% harder to pass than Exchange 2003, which is the same estimated difference for 2003 versus 2000 - I think you would be better off doing Exchange 2003.

Then you could do 70-293 and 70-294 that with the 70-284 for Exchange 2003 would give you MCSA/MCSE 2003...

Hopefully thet are kitting you out with MOC training, study software, test guides and software - as this will make the whole process quicker!

    Just my two cents worth...

Thanks very much for the reply.

Indeed I'm just starting off. Currently studying the XP 70-270.

Then will do the other 2 Win 2K3 ones.

Reason thinking of going straight to Exchange 2007 is because currently where I work still using Groupwise and plan to move to exchange next year therefore going straight into 2007. Never really used exchange before so seems bit wierd doing 2003.

And yeah company paying for books, courses and exams.

Suppose I just have to do exchange 2007 and study harder ?

the TS exam is likely a little easier than the existing 284 exam as its a baseline one
the MCITP for Exchange 2007 is two exams, more akin to 284 and 285 i imagine (these are 237 and 238 i THINK, I only did 237 so cant be 100% on that

anyways, if your companies moving to 2k7, do the 2k7 courses, this is more about what's needed at your place of employment not about how easy it is to get some certification

    Good luck :)

Okay some more up to date advice...and btw good news!

Note that I was mentioning the alternative 2003 path as a candidate doing a hard course straight up is a good way to loose them forever, as they could possibly get discouraged.

thanks for all the replies. So basically the exchange 2007 70-236 will still be a valid MSCA exam/course just going to be more difficult than the 'standard' 2003 one.

Suppose when i realisically be doing the exchange exam next year i'll have more experience and knowledge after hopefully passing the server 2003 ones.

    Thanks very much

    Hi all,

I have just cleared MCSA (Messaging 2003) & now studying towards 70-236 MCTS.

Preparing for it through trainsignal, VMWARE (Lab) & MS Press Book.

Anyone please share your experiences on the exam.
I haven't started the Exam dumps yet.

You ARE wrong, it is NOT how *all* pass their exams, it is how some dubious people, that really are not interested in learning the technology properly, pass the exams by reading the actual answers from dumps. This is an illegal practise and is heavily frowned upon here, as it devalues the certification.

    Hi all,

thanks for your inputs on the dumps. It has opened up my eyes and i'm really now interested to go ahead with learning instead of going with the dumps.

    Thanks once again.
