Hi guys, might not have all this information absolutly right but here goes
I think i'm right in saying A-levels are level 3 and degrees are level 4? I'm doing a CIW Website Design Manager course and my tutor at collage couldn't find what level CIW was/is-any ideas and I think i'm right in assuming they'll give you no UCAS points? No plans to go to uni but would be useful to know
    Thanks guys
    xx

Ken's your man where this is concerned.

If I can find one of his older posts and link it to you before he replies, then I shall.

It's not. That link doesn't specify where (approximately) CIW lies in the official framework.

I doubt CIW will give any UCAS points but QS is right. Ken's the man when comes to where certain certs and qualifications are in terms of how reconised they are.

My bad! That's what happens when you don't read the whole of people's posts.

At work trying to multitask at the moment. Forgot that men are incapable of that.

Sure that Ken'll be along shortly to lend a helping hand.

Thanks guys, not too worried about the ucas points-would be just ammo to use against all my mates with degrees anyway lol, I imagin CIW would be Level 3, bonus if its level 4- but until the Great Ken arrives I'll call it Level 3.5:biggrin
    Thanks again

Tanks are awesome. HNDs are Humvee's with roof mounted machine guns, so that'll do me.

That's right, unlike Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco & Comptia which have been mapped to the UK NQF, CIW have not gone thru the process. You may find some educational program that incorporate the CIW material, but the level of that cert/qual would be that educational program and not the CIW.

BSc/BA's (with of without Hons) sit at level H of the FHEQ and maps across to the NQF at level 6. MSc/MA/MBA's sit at level M of the FHEQ and that maps to level 7 of the NQF. FHEQ is for higher education, NQF is for further education. That's why quals that sit at levels 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 of the NQF would be classed as either degree level, comparable to... or equivalent to... "X".

Oh, yes your right, A levels are level 3 :)

That info is out of date, they currently are displaying the NQF (before it was revised a couple of years ago), plus they have merged 3 different qualification frameworks into one... See here for the updated chart.

    Ken

Do you have a chart that shows where the Microsoft exams meet up to their equivalence exams/levels? Does such a beast exist?

They're on the bottom page of the document. It's an approximation, level 3 iirc.
