What you don't want to "no" (know), or you do want to know?

Anyway, if you want to see whats on the ECDL Advance, see here for the syllabus. You only need to complete one module/subject to get the ECDL Advance cert, but if you complete the whole thing you get the ECDL expert certificate, see here:

I'll let Ken answer, as you asked him the question; however, I have MBCS after my name, and it didn't give me an increase in salary.

What it did give me was the opportunity to meet and mix with other people in IT, to share ideas and issues, and to get to know more about what other people in the IT industry near me are doing. It's called networking.

What does the ECDL course entail? What's it equivalent to?

it teaches you how to do stuff in excel and office applications. It sort of like what would be usefull to someone who works on spreadsheets like and office administrator.

The ECDL part 1 is equivalent to GCSE (grades D-G), sits on the same level as a NVQ1, sits at level 1 of the NQF
ECDL Part 2 is equivalent to GCSE (grades A-C), sits on the same level as a NVQ2, sits at level 2 of the NQF
ECDL Advanced is equivalent to A level, sits on the same level as a NVQ3, sits at level 3 of the NQF

First thing I would like to say, is that nothing will guarantee you:
    1. A Pay raise
    2. A job
    3. Career progression.

However, it may assist you in getting the above. Remember just getting the letters after your name is just the start (in fact it's a small thing compared to other things), as there's:

    1. The professional code of conduct that you have to abide to
    2. The CPD - Continuing Professional development you have to under take
    3. The networking opportunities
    4. Regular meetings (if you want to go)

It's not just one thing and blam everthing is handed to you, one thing leads to another and so on, etc...

To achieve the ECDL Expert certificate you do have to pass all of the modules.

Hope I've typed it right and I hope this helps :)

Once you've finished your ECDL route, then I would recommend you do what already has been said by GBL, go for the A+, the Network+ and the MCDST. Good work on doing voluntary work, that will only help you with your career :)

I would image the A+, Network+ or MCSE would be the next step. :D

There a very big gap between the A+/Network+ combination and the MCSE, especially from the ECDL :)
