So I applied for a job yesterday within half an hour of it being posted to Reed.co.uk. Later that day I get an invite for an interview at lunchtime today.

So I went along and it went quite well. Really well in fact.....


So well infact, that I was offered the job on the spot, and its a 6K payrise!

I told them that I didnt want to accept the job immediately (Even though I wanted to), as Interviews were obviously stressful and I wanted to give myself a day or two to think about it, in order to make sure I was making the right decision, although I was very interested in the position.

Cheers guys. Im fairly sure im going to take the job to be honest. I just didnt want to accept it at the interview. its a 6K payrise on my current salary for starters, they are willing to help with certifications (they have an 'aggressive' training plan for this year and want to get everyone MCP status so they can register as a certified solutions provider), and its what I want to do (The project ill be working on is a combination of ASP and VB.Net - and it will pretty much just be me and the IT director working on it, or so it seems)

All in all its a fantastic opportunity (6K!!!!!!!!!!!!! i still cant believe that I even told them what I am actually on currently, although I explained my reasons for such a large jump)

 

Congratulations Fergal, don't be bothered about the pay rise as am sure you know you deserve it. I landed a new role recently and the pay was almost 5k more than what I was on previously.

I would keep stressing that improving one's knowledgebase thru certs and hands on coupled with experience puts any candidate in a better chance of being offered the role.

well. Phoned them up today and confirmed that I would be happy to accept the job. They are going to send out a written offer to me today, and once I have that I will hand in my notice.
