    Just bought a new toy.

The Dell-XPS-M1330 is a thing of lightweight beauty.

With a bit of customization, Vista Ultimate and Office 2007, I'm suitably impressed.

Lightweight enough to wonder around with, yet powerful enough for some pretty state of the art gaming.
It's got some fantastic touches, the best of which has to be the mini DVD remote that lives in the PCMCIA slot - it's about the size of a credit card.

The carry case is enough to protect it without adding bulk.

The DVD tray is also fab - a slot loader rather than a pop out tray that feels as if it is going to snap off when you push a CD onto it.

    Lovely...

(I don't work for DELL either)

    :biggrin

I was looking at the XPS laptops earlier this year and was not impressed with the graphics card (5 months ago it was only the nVidia 7400), looks like they've improved on that. While this model offers the 8400, it is an improvement over the 7400.

    Nice one :)

3000 dollars and it only comes with 2 gb of ram, vista home premium, only a 2 mb l2 cache and a 120 gb sata hdd! Are you freaking crazy? I thought I raised you better then that! At that price you should have 4 gig, 250 hd and a 4mb l2 cache. I am sooooo disappointed in you at this moment!

    ...and a 20" screen. 8)

Be disappointed all you want... but you can always upgrade memory and get a larger hard drive. You can't get a laptop with a 20 inch screen elsewhere. :biggrin

That one inch just does not make enough difference to justified the price! I belive you need a good duck tapping to bring you back to your sense! :dry

"That one inch"? Try THREE inches larger than the next largest laptop... and almost FIVE inches larger than most laptops! 8) And almost SEVEN inches larger than the one Jonny posted!

I think I need to duct tape a math book to your forehead.

The Dell UK site only offers red or black at the moment - but I believe there are all sorts of others.
    US only perhaps?

Which one did you choose? There is a choice of 3 processor speeds.

    Black.
    Red is for tarts.

I upped everything I could within reason (financially).

The other problem is that if you max out all of the gizmos you have to go for the really big battery, which adds a fair bit to the weight.

Anyway, not much point putting a really fast processor in when you're running Vista.
Nothing in the world speeds that up...
