Hi, would it be possible to get some advice on my CV to find my first IT job please?

I'm mainly looking for an ICT/IT Technician role within a school or small business. I am also going to hand a CV into the local PC repair shop, and hope I can land a job there part-time until I find full time work. I am also willing to do voluntary work within IT if it's possible.

I have attached my CV, with my personal details/schools/colleges removed.

    Thanks :)

Welcome aboard. I don't read CVs - its soul-destroying. I can give you a quick piece of advice though - if you;re willing to do voluntary work the best places to start looking are charities. Send your CV off to all the charities that operate in your area and tell them you're willing to work for experience. Most of their IT departments are ridiculously underfunded and could do with someone helping them out - even if its just rebuilding old PCs, upgrading them or repatching. Any experience you can put on your CV will help!

Not bad mate, perhaps expand it slighly though. Also you use the word 'good' too many times. :biggrin

    Lol yeah - I agree :D

Maybe I should just remove "good" and keep it as "knowledge of......."?

Ok thanks. My area is filled with charity shops so i'll write a few letters and send them off. I also checked my local connexions a few weeks ago, but they don't really have any IT jobs. -_-

I'm also wondering if I managed to get a job with a company outside of my area(e.g. I had to commute via train) would they pay for travel expenses if I was invited for an interview? And assuming I got the job, would they help me out with them? or does it vary between company?

Unlikely mate, especially with your first IT job. Factor in the cost of travelling when you apply for jobs.

I have seen Zebs threads/posts on here when it may appear that he is slightly angry. Trust me when a network guru is angry you better be wearing padded clothes as a stapler is just a useful as a tazer to a network guy :D
