About 850 agency workers are to lose their jobs at Jaguar Land Rover in the West Midlands and Warwickshire.

The IT and engineering staff at plants in Castle Bromwich, Solihull, Whitley, and Gaydon have been told their jobs will go by the end of the year.

Not surprised. I dont understand why some people think IT is safe from the recession like someone tried to tell me.

I heard a lot of these agency workers were temps, I suppose one good thing is at least there were no redundancies.

 

No job or sector in these current economic climate are safe be it in the private or public sector period. Sad but it's the truth and with time all we'd hope is that things get better.

I work in the public sector and the financial director had a large meeting talking about serious cost cuts and what not, so there you go no sector is safe proof.

 

We just hired somone from the red cros because he was being outsourced. Unfortunately IT is not like it used to be and it's a lot harder to keep a job.
