connecting 2 pcs via wireless network cards

    is it possible to connect 2 pcs via wireless network cards for data transfer without using a router or switch?

    also, i have a spare jet direct box. it is possible to atached this to an external hard disk and make a NAS box?

    Yep... it's called ad-hoc mode.

    As far as the jet direct is concerned... I have no idea... I suspect not, but I don't know for sure.

    Yes - AdHoc mode. Can be a bit of a pig to get going on some cards.

    No - wrong protocols and sockets! Jetdirect boxes have parallel ports, which won't run a hard drive!

    WPA doesn't support AdHoc mode , so you have to make sure WPA2 is supported with your adaptors or drop down to less secure WEP
