Everyone will have their own preference and/or horror stories regarding hosting/domain name registering.

Personally, I detest OneandOne and have never have any problems with FastHosts - but I guarantee you someone else on here will have the complete opposite opinion - hosting is such a lottery that one persons appalling experiences can always be offset by another person's glowing references!

Your question is a bit like asking 'where's the best place to buy a pint of milk' - impossible to answer definitively :D

    ok lets make it straight:
freeparking - is quite good for buying/maintaining a domain

You must be in the minority that finds 1&1 great for hosting, they were a nightmare when my mum tried to cancel her hosting account, you would think you were in a circus with how many hoops that had to be jumped through.

freeparking I used to use, but find them a little expensive, so I either use godaddy or 123 reg.

I had no problems setting up with them, and their service does seem excellent. However, my site doesn't see (any) enough traffic to comment on downtime, speed, and so forth.

Things may have changed since then, but once bitten twice shy, I wouldn't use them again.

I use 1and1 for both personal use and work use, I find them good. However I will say that I do not use them for hosting, only for internet domain name registration/re-direction - so I can only give my opinions on that :)
