Personally I advised people to study and take the Windows XP and especially the Windows 7 exams as they will domninate the next 5-10 years and not Windows Vista as very few companies have installed or will install their network.

I knew I should have put a post in after stating why I had written this thread.....

This thread should be regarded as purely information for people looking to take a Microsoft Client exam - not advice as to which exams to take. I am halfway through writing a similar one for Windows 7 - were I will go into detail regarding all three client exams - 680/685/686.

    Thanks,

    I think those two-star reviewers don't know what they're talkin' about. 8)

For what it's worth, we don't have a rating below four stars on the Amazon US site.

There are exactly TWO instances of "Vista Professional"... both in practice exam items. One of them isn't vital to answering the question, and the other is a distractor (meaning, a wrong choice).

The reviewer is correct that it was written during the Beta stages of Vista... just like Microsoft Press's book. The best we could do was write for what we had at the time.

The reviewer is off his rocker regarding Parental Controls (found on pages 415-418, including a lab, and NOT including five related questions) and BitLocker (found on pages 251-252). Those pages tell you everything you need to know about those two features to pass the exam.

Considering the uCertify plug the reviewer threw in his review, I would not be surprised if he were a shill for uCertify (a deceptive practice they've historically been known to engage in). If so, it's no wonder as to why he gave our book a bad review.
