Sat the Certified Information Security Manager this morning. 200 questions with 4 hours to do them. I studied for just over a month using the official manual and ISACA's question DB from the previous year. There was a bit of overlap with the CISSP material so it wasn't all new stuff, it seemed to be more focused on governance, risk, BIA, BCP, DRP etc.
I was out in around 2 hours 30 minutes but found the exam pretty difficult, so fingers crossed. You can only do the exam twice a year so if i've failed it means waiting to December and another 400 notes!

I'm sure a man of your calibre will have breezed through it. I think the only cert you haven't got after this is GSOH? Where you watching the mate mate?

In terms of difficulty, how would you rate this exam against the CISSP Bri? I know thats probably hard to say until you get your results :S How long did it take you to study for you CISSP mate and would you say its fair to say this one only took a month because of you having the CISSP?

Hiya mate, i'd say it was a little bit easier than the CISSP, I was able to narrow most of the questions I didn't know to 2 choices whereas there was some stuff on the CISSP I did not know at all.
I did buy the materials for this exam in March but the manual was very dry reading and it was difficult to get motivated so I kept putting it off.
CISSP I did about 6 weeks study I think, this was due to the exam timetables, it was either do it when I did or wait another 2 months to take it.

What are you going to have a crack at next?

    Thanks for the info mate.

I'm not sure what I'm going for next you know mate. I've got some Cisco routers, switches and firewalls at home so possibly the CCNA. I'm not working on Cisco kit right now tho so that would be something more for my own interest than my career. I'd like to be able to adminitser my own setup which I want to be quite overkill when I get my next house, as you do, you know the score mate

I'm getting more and more involved with Citrix, mainly planning the AV setup for a new estate, so maybe the CCA is it? I really don't have much of a clue TBH. If anyone can advise me what is a general Citrix admin cert or exam that would be great.

I quite fancy the CEH at some point this year tho mate. I know people say its out of date etc but again that one is for me, and my CV. I want to get more into vulnerabilities, firewall admin etc to aid my security knowledge

**Edit: Oh sorry mate how rude; what's next for you? Possibly some Citrix or ITIL? or even SCCM?

Got my fingers crossed for you Bri! I've just started dipping into CISSP. Using the Shon Harris CISSP exam guide (fith edition) along side the Shon Harris CISSP Career Academy CBT's. Only done the first domain and already it's pretty heavy going!

Just got my results after waiting almost 9 weeks. Nailed it!
Only just though, the exam is scored on a scale from 200 to 800 with 450 needed to pass, I got 497.
A pass is a pass I suppose! :biggrin

I found the first domain a bit heavy going and not particularly intersting so I have drifted away from it to be honest - perhaps I'll pick it back up some time in the near future when I have got a bit more motivation!
