Already sold out at Insight, Microdirect have them instock
    HP ML110 G5, £197 INC Vat + P&P

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/40288

Dual core Xeon, 250GB, 1GB ram, 1yr warranty

Upgrade the ram to 8GB, ESXi on a USB stick and you have a good study box

8GB ECC is around £90 on Crucial, but it will run with standard PC6400 DDR2 ram

Thanks i will look into that!

Dell had a special offer last year for £90 servers, Nick from Itidiots brought three or four for use with Hyper-V, however, i haven't seen the offer repeated even though i still have a business account with them.

I agree for lab purposes you don't need ECC

I have several AMD 64 HP severs from several years ago they are good for labs, but i need replacements for ESX and/or hyper-v

I can still get the base spec servers from Dell at £90 through work, but to be honest these HP's are a better spec and pretty much work out of the box, also having an onboard USB socket on the mobo for a USB stick, install ESXi to it and job done.

I would buy one if I had the funds, but I've just stuck 8GB im my own PC to use for studying instead.

lol I ment spec wise, I think it may just be processors but not sure.

Having looked around it looks like the price of the HP servers have more or less doubled in the last 6 months, looks like I'll have to hold out and pick some up if prices drop.

Would I be missing out on much by using a core2 duo machine and running vmware that way?
