Great now I can't burn CDs. I have inserted a blank new CDRW disk into my drive ready to start burning, but when I want to explore the empty disk I keep getting the following error message:

    Any ideas?

Just a stab in the dark... Faulty writer?

I got similar error's in Nero when my old writer gave up.

    CD-R or R/W?

Some drives just don't like rewritables.

Might be worth trying some different brands of CDs. If you get the same problem then it looks like the drive may be on the way out.

Fixed it by changing the CD drive from secondary slave to master.

SCSI bus doesnt use those concepts
it uses SCSI IDs to identify devices on the SCSI bus

IDE channels support only 2 devices (master and slave) and most motherboards have two IDE channels (thus primary and secondary)
