    Okay,

I've been studying for this CCENT for a month now, with a bit of support from a co-worker who recently passed his CCENT/CCNA tests. I have taken a run through the Boson practice exam environment to see how I would do. . .the results weren't pretty.

When I went back through the missed questions, quite a few of there were stupid mistakes I should have caught.

Before I go in and waste my companie's money tomorrow on a test I'm terrified I'm going to fail, does anyone have any last-minute advice?

    Thanks in advance.

    Darth

I think you have already identified one of the most important things you need to do and that is read the questions carefully :) .

Youll be fine dude! the boson (not ex-sim) questions are a lot more awkward than the test! just take your time and enjoy it! once you have done a question, just go over it quickly to check for mistakes and make sure you have had your breakfast / lunch to fuel your brain! :D

    Good luck!!

Sorry for not updating, I've passed that test, but missed the second *ICND2* with a score of 706.

I'm retaking the ICND2 on the 19th. Suggestions?

    STUDY!!! :D

What areas did you get low marks on? your score sheet should give you a category breakdown? i would go over the bits you know you are unsure of and take a look at the cat breakdown and go over those areas too!

    Didn't do so hot in:

Configure and troubleshoot basic operation and routing on Cisco devices

    and

    Implement and verify WAN links

Also, I ran out of time with about 20 questions of the 43 I had, so I rushed through them in the last 15 minutes. . .probably where I had all the wrong answers, too. One of the final questions was a full sim, so I flew through it but didn't have time to double check it. . .

Time management and reviewing WAN links are my primary focus for the re-take. I'm running through Packet Tracer and constantly recreating network with different routing and switching configurations to make sure I am quick with the commands.

Here's hoping there's no need to test the "Third times the charm" adage.

I am retaking this exam tomorrow. I've been reading and studying further through the past two weeks and have run through the Boson exam environment a few times to try to work out the jitters.

Here's hoping I knock this out tomorrow.

    Scored an 804.

    And you needed 825, right?

Don't worry about it, just keep going over the theory and do the practice questions from the books.

After further studying and the review of the CBTNuggets video series for the ICND2 test, I finally passed.

    846

Definately not blowing it out of the water, but I passed!

Anyone taken the CCNA Security? That's my next step.

    Thoughts?

Well done!! Exactly as you say, a pass is a pass. Third time lucky after all... I am doing the CCNA hopefully in November, and mean to go on to one of the specialisms as well. I have been thinking about either Voice or Wireless. Is security something you are interested in?

    Thanks.

Security is definitely something I'm interested in, yes. There is a fast-growing market for security professionals in my area of the world *U.S.* so I see future opportunities for me in this track. I'm currently working as an Network/Infrastructure admin for a Proctor & Gamble plant. I don't want to work here for ever, since the work isn't terribly exciting or really even challenging, so I am always looking for ways to grow and branch out.

    Well done on the passes!

When i passed my ccna back in 2010 i bought the ccna security books but really couldnt get my head into it at the time so went for the CCNP instead!

My plan is after the CCNP (switch exam next week and tshoot in december hopefully) to go back to IINS (CCNA Security) and then see how i feel about it... then i migth do the CCSP.... but not sure if its an area that i am wholly interested in yet, although i know there are a few jobs out there for security professionals!!! I suppose i will find out when i start studying it! :)
