    Hey all

I have being working in the I.T industry for close to 5 years now.

I have being doing infrastructure based work and about 2 years ago I left my old company because I was bored as hell and they did not give me any opportunities to do interesting work and they made me do boring tier 1 and some tier 2 work. I had more skills than that so I changed jobs.

the new place I work as a Infrastructure Consultant where I do design, implement and support Microsoft solutions specialise in the cloud space where I integrate on-premise environments with the cloud. I have done several large scale projects where I led everything from a technical point of view.

I have being in this consultant role for close to 2 years now, our company did not do well we went from like 25 people to 4 people within a little over a year but my manager kept me cause of my experience/knowledge and I did a good job and I was needed for the rebuild. Trust me it was not easy surviving where people got kicked off but I am glad I survived and it made me stronger than ever!!

Anyways I am thinking of changing jobs cause I am underpaid and plus there is not much to up skill here and because it is a small company I believe I reached my peak here and plus I being here close to 2 years so time for a change :)

Now the thing is I have being looking for 10 months and I have not found my ideal role ( I don't go for any IT job).

I am in a mid level consultancy role but I have done the work of a senior, I am trying to get either a senior role at another company or at least mid level but with much higher salary like 37 % increase cause of the experience/skills I gained in my current role. But when I tell the recruitres etc my salary they always add 10k to what I am getting without even knowing my cv or skills or getting to know me which is BS because that's just how most average people think and that's how it is, so I do not disclose my salary so I try to sell my self based on my skills and experience.

Any idea how to get a better job? any logical input would be useful.

Simple, tell them what you want, don't let them tell you what to do.

Tell them the job you want and the salary you expect, don't let them control the discussion, don't divulge your current package.

If you're as good as you say you are, then you should get some offers.

Recruiters aren't interested in you, they just want to fill the latest job on their desk, its up to you to sell yourself and find the recruiter with the job you want.

Five years might seem a long time when you're new to the industry, but there will be people with 10+ years and they could be the ones holding you out of senior positions.

Your English could use some work if you are working in a client facing consultancy role.
