Problem Can't see favourites when connected to 3g

Bit of a strange one this but when connected to the network the favourites are there and working. When I then connect to 3g the favourites are missing and I can't import them again or save a new favourite which is strange. Also looking in the favourites folder they are all missing as well. Log out and in again with the 3g disconnected and the network cable in and they appear again. Running XP Pro and Vodafone 3g dongle. Any ideas as I'm stumped .
