I was unable to install a Ethernet network adapter on computer for a client of mine. I was online with a dell rep for hours and he couldn't install it either it just wouldnt the dell rep tried quite a few things, system restore, safe mode with networking to see if adapter works nothing, any idea what the problem might have been I ended up sending the laptop back to dell they said they would check it out.

so you have sent the laptop back to dell for them to fix?

if you and the dell rep tried to sort this for hours, it more likely could be a faulty NIC.

nothing to worry about - they will sort this for you.

The NIC light did turn on and the driver did install but when trying to connect to the internet, it would give the same error limited or no connectivity, I would have to chat with the dell rep via
usb to lan adapter. And yes I send the laptop back.

"Limited or no connectivity". I lived with that message for quite sometime when trying to repair the damage some particularly nasty bit of malware did to my son's laptop. Here's the "saga" and the solution. Don't know if it'll help you, but if you read through it, there are a few suggestions as to cause and cure:
