Just found this on the beeb

It strikes me as funny, why does it take the heads of big business that long to realise the endeavour would result in being a monumental cluster **** when most of us techies knew that before it started happening?

As a marketing ploy today though, its a good one!

now if only Microsoft would get the message *sigh*
its a bit sad when it takes me over an hour to describe an issue when I call up the business critical support line :)

Don't call them, then. Use web-based chat or e-mail support. I've had good luck going those routes. I can't stand not being able to understand someone... or making myself understood.

Mate, Business critical support is a service gold partners in the UK have, its a single number, no other options unfortunatly
MS UK have a fair bit of catching up to do on the US brethren!

On the flip side, for those of you who consult, Indian outsourcing/IT companies are agressively hiring native English speakers. They usually pay better than American or UK firms and they treat their coworkers with a lot more dignity and respect too.

I like to think of it as reverse outsourcing: I'm outsourcing management functions while keeping labor local. :ohmy

I keep getting hounded by Dell sales calls - as we tend to buy our servers from them.

I can't understand a word the guy is saying.

I mean that as a statement of fact, rather than any kind of racial thing.

It's like talking to a cross between Apu from the Simpsons and Peter Sellers from The Party.

My only comment is that if you want to employ people to phone up your customers and try and sell more stuff to them, it makes sense to use the same language.
