Is it possible, using either vmware server or virtual server 2005 r2, to boot from a pc over the network a vm image?

So if i have a pc, without anything except a network card and it boot from PXE and loads the first available XP image from the server?

    Is this possbile?

    Thanks

Please could you clear what you trying to do.

What i think you asking is, is it possible to run VM machine with images in a network enviroment then allow a client to use images from that server and install a OS?

If so yes - assuming the software side of things is ok - RIS,DNS,DHCP, Permissions

I think that this is the sort of thing that you are looking for.

It's a full solution mind you.

Thanks guys, zimbo what i mean is actually run the vm on the client pc as if i was running it locally, so no install

Like thin clients and a citrix box, they log in like rdp via network boot, but i want the clients to run an xp vm, or have several running and they use the 1st available one.
