Recently I managed to rescue a memory card from my phone that got "corrupted". It wouldn't read in Windows and wouldn't assign a drive letter. I couldn't format it even if I wanted to. So I fired up Slax (linux distro) and was able to copy my files with ease over to my partition on my pc.

So it got me thinking to see what you guys use at home or at work that has saved you from potential data loss, or times when your pc wouldn't boot etc? Any recommendations?

Forgot to mention: If you can state what you used it for etc.. would be helpful :)
