    Ok guys,

I was going to do the crash course but this forum has convinced me to do the self study way.

What is the best book to use????

In my opinion, the best A+ book is Mike Meyer's All in One Exam Guide.

And James Pyles, PC Technician Street Smarts: A Real World Guide to CompTIA A+ Skills makes a great compaion to Mikes book. Gives you hands on. Several of us here have it and swear by it.

I agree, Mitzs. That would be the second book I'd recommend.

I got THIS and it was fantastic.

The Fast Pass book is great not just for revision, if you just want a brush up on stuff you know already and don't want to read the longer chapters in the bigger A+ book you can get all the good stuff condensed in to smaller chunks. Makes study much more manageable!

I also bought THIS for my N+. Having flicked through the books recently I can say I am initially just as pleased with these as with the A+ box set.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Guys

I read some of the comments on Amazon.com about Mike Meyer's All in One Exam Guide, a few people seem to think its misses out a lot of important information. Do any of you feel the same?

No - I found it quite comprehensive. *No* book can cover everything, you always need to read round the subject.

So what important info did they claim was missing?

Well some claim that the the book in general was too broad and wasn't in-depth enough, apart from SCSI.

Also some claim that the CD exams are nothing like the real thing.

Reading it again i think some of this refers to the 5th edition.

After reading this forum my gut feeling is to buy it.

These comments are probably from competitors

To say that the book is a mile wide, and an inch deep is, in my view, correct. But so is the exam!

I felt that the book was a very good match to the exams I took - and I was using the 5th edition on the older exams.

I always view the reviews on Amazon with caution - you never know what agenda, if any, the reviewer has. Although occasionally the wording of a review suggests that he has an axe to grind!

    Harry.

The Meyers book has long been the de facto standard study guide for the A+ certification, but as deloren pointed out, Sybex's A+ Certification Kit contains several top notch books that cover the A+ from different angles (one of them is mine, so I'm not being entirely objective).
